September 7, Day of the Argentinian winemaker.

Hello my dear friends! Today The Wine Chaser wants to congratulate our wineries in Argentina, Monte Quieto and Desquiciado! Although Mendoza has a provincial day of the winemaker, which is celebrated on May 5, since 2002, by an agreement between entities such as the Center of Winemakers and the Professional Council of Winemakers of San Juan, Winemaker's Day is celebrated throughout Argentina every September 7, commemorating the day in 1862 on which Domingo F. Sarmiento inaugurated the Quinta Normal de San Juan.

This school, which in 1939 was renamed the National School of Fruit Growing and Oenology, played a leading role in the development of Cuyo's viticulture, providing the first professionally trained Argentinian technicians who oriented their careers towards that industry.

In 2001, the institution was declared a Cultural and Natural, Material and Intangible Heritage of the Province of San Juan and today its 27 hectares house the professional technical training of hundreds of students. Its importance lies in the fact that it was the first school to teach oenology in Argentina and South America, training professionals from Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.

Previously, oenologists were honored on August 6, although in reality that date had been opportunely established as the Day of Agricultural Education, celebrating the foundation in the town of Llavallol (Province of Buenos Aires) of the first Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine of Argentina .

Leonardo Quercetti is the main winemaker at the Monte Quieto winery and has been in charge of his personal project Absurdo Wines since 2014. The Monte Quieto winery is a love story that began more than 20 years ago, when Agustín and Matilde arrived together in Luján from Whose, Mendoza, and found their place in Agrelo. Leonardo, together with them, has achieved elegant wines, with an impressive balance and profile, such as Enlace and Monte Quieto Alegre Gran Corte. Congratulations to you!

We are also sending a hug and congratulations to Gonzalo Tamagnini, a winemaker by profession, who for many years has been experimenting with harvests to make wines with different practices, seeking and trying each harvest to make a wine with which he can identify his passion for what does and lives in each of them. Without a doubt, he has achieved it with Desquiciado Wines. A winery that is giving much to talk about.

We wish you both the very best of days! We wish you success and even more passion for what you do! Enhorabuena!
