We chase wine, they chase perfect taste! Montecatini is that kind of restaurant. An excellent fusion of traditional and contemporary cuisines from Italy, Spain and Cuba, with impeccable service and atmosphere. Thus, we recently hosted our first VIP Lunch & Pairing at this iconic Kendall restaurant.
The event took place on June 29 and was attended by several friends and lovers of good wine as well as the owners of Montequieto Bodega De Familia and the gastronomy maven, author, master wine and cigar sommelier Yamir Pelegrino. Flor de Unx Rosé from Anecoop Bodegas, Fuentespina 3, Avelino Vegas 100th Anniversary and the irreplaceable Alegre Gran Corte from Montequieto, were some of the wines paired for the special occasion.
In an industry where the envelope is always being pushed and bars being raised, we appreciated the attention to the details while delivering on time with all of the specifics of a proper wine and food service. The menu, jointly selected by Executive Chef Rassiel Gomez and sommeliers Idania Gonzalez and Yamir Pellegrino, was second to none.
Truth be told, selecting the wine to go with the meal can be intimidating, because while no dinner has ever been ruined with the "wrong" wine, the right wine can enhance a dish to perfection. There are no hard and fast rules on matching food and wine, because it's ultimately a matter of personal taste, but the best food and wine pairings create a balance between the components of a dish and the characteristics of a wine. In that sense, we truly feel this pairing was special, one of many more to come! And that is why we wanted to dedicate today's post to this great restaurant and the team led by Rassiel.
