La Taberna Giralda, beyond Spanish tradition...

Hi friends! I hope everyone had an amazing Valentine's Day! Did you taste an amarone or a vibrant rosé? I personally opted for great Spanish food and wine at one of Coral Gables' most popular restaurants, and I want to tell you about it because there are few things as adorable as sweet old couples. Think about it: how many times have you cracked a smile at a pair of cute old-timers holding hands in the street? If you’re anything like me, seeing love thrive for so long and endure the tests of time is not only beautiful, it’s inspirational. This kind of love reminds us that if you try hard enough, anything is possible -even epic life stories spanning generations. La Taberna Giralda is a place to enjoy food, wine and flamenco but also, to reflect on love and true hard work. Let me explain you why...

Unlike the simmering cauldron of delicious gravy cooked to perfection, there is no recipe for a successful restaurant business. You may think that a line out the door is the best marker of restaurant success -but there's much more to restaurant success than just a loyal fanbase. A strong restaurant identity, hiring and retaining your staff and building a supportive environment, familiarizing yourself with profit and loss statements, creating a profitable menu (and learning how to market your best-selling items) are just some of the key elements of successful restaurants. With that said, consistency and passion are that critical ingredient that will make you last long-term, no matter how challenging the industry circumstances are. And therein lies the expertise of La Giralda...

Great food, best vibes, unforgettable moments...

In 2012, the Pino family fulfilled their dream of opening a Spanish restaurant that would provide a warm and welcoming place for couples and families to create memories. After many years in Spain, they moved to Miami and started a completely different journey here. The location they picked was familiar to the family as they were previous patrons and always dreamed of making it their own. This is how La Taberna Giralda was born. With the help and support of family, friends, and kind strangers, the restaurant has become a second home to many. Its cozy atmosphere, personalized service and authentic Spanish food set the stage for nights of laughter and joyous celebrations. Entering its 10th year of operations now, after massive obstacles like the pandemic and prolonged renovations of more than a year on Giralda Avenue, La Taberna Giralda continues to thrive. Owners Don Oscar and Edilia, along with their daughter Karen, warmly welcome guests every night and still work long hours to take care of every detail. The couple have maintained their work ethic throughout their years together, transpiring their love for each other in the atmosphere of the restaurant; turning it into a home-like culinary oasis for lovers of a good paella, 'chistorras' or a prawn casserole. This attention to detail and tireless dedication make all the difference in a world much more focused on technical perfection and profitability.

On November 12, 2020, The Wine Chaser hosted a wine dinner for over a hundred guests that officially marked the beginning of our operations and linked the restaurant to our business origin which makes us very proud.

If you are ever in Coral Gables area, stop by La Taberna and enjoy their food and one of the most comprehensive and eclectic selections of Spanish wines in Miami. Wineries such as Vinicola Real, Avelino Vegas, Fuentespina, Loriñón and Anecoop are widely represented. The first and third Friday of each month, a complimentary wine tasting is offered to diners so bear that in mind. Every Thursday and Saturday there is a party with an interactive and vibrant Rumba Flamenco Show. Dancers and saxophonist give the show a special touch, and guests 'of honor' are invited on stage to join the show.

And that's a wrap for today! Let's meet again next Wednesday...

Santé!
