A toast for the new sommeliers!

Hi friends! Last week the first International Sommelier Course (level I) sponsored by the Iberoamerican Gourmet Academy here in Miami, culminated. Under the leadership of the renowned wine and cigar master sommelier and two-time Gourmand Noble Award winner Yamir Pellegrino, the graduates received their diplomas after a rigorous and extensive final questionnaire.

The graduation event, which took place at the popular Ceviche Bar By Mixtura restaurant in the very heart of Key Biscayne, was attended by all the students and was a perfect occasion to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the course. Wines such as the incredible Pago de Carraovejas, Mauro, Alion, Nobilo among others were tasted and paired with exquisite dishes of Peruvian cuisine such as ceviche, causa, lomo saltado and grilled octopus.

Pellegrino, who jokingly refers to wine as an immortalizing drink due to its ancient association with gods and hedonism, took advantage of the special gathering to explain the new contents and challenges that students will be facing in the next level course. And just in case you wonder... Why get a wine certification? In short, certifications can help you better achieve your goals within the hospitality or beverage industry. They’re not the only way, but they can certainly help to distinguish you from your competition. They also help to expand your wine knowledge, refine your craft, and open doors for your career.

We leave you here some beautiful moments of the graduation night and we hope you continue to follow our publications closely. In fact, we will be publishing the new course starting dates very soon!

Until then, cheers to the new 'immortals'!
